Requirements

High school diploma or GED equivalent
Minimum of 6 months’ experience as a server
Must be able to obtain Maricopa Food Handler’s Card before employment
Must have a flexible schedule, including early mornings, weekends, and holidays if needed
Must successfully pass a background check
Enrolled at GCU as a full-time student in a Bachelor’s program or Master’s program
Retain a 2.0 GPA as a Bachelor level student or a 3.0 GPA as a Master level student
Maintain good financial and academic (SAP) standing with the University
Basic knowledge of food presentation, preparation, and handling
Adhere to grooming and appearance standards consistently
Understands and can communicate products and services available at the clubhouse
Possess basic math skills and have the ability to handle money and operate a POS system
Ability to demonstrate passion for providing exceptional customer service
Demonstrates ability to go above and beyond to meet guest expectations
Provides a professional image at all times through appearance and dress
Able to work well independently with little supervision
Ability to learn the structure and function of all clubhouse and golf course
Ability to learn and follow all safety, emergency, and accident prevention procedures
Ability to follow all OSHA and food handling procedures
Able to use fire extinguishers and any other emergency equipment needed

Responsibilities

Welcome and greet guests.
Inform guests of specials and menu changes.
Make recommendations guests will enjoy.
Up-sell food and beverage items using suggestive selling techniques.
Answer questions regarding food products, preparation, and wine list.
Answer questions about other clubhouse functions and services.
Prepare tables, lay out napkins and utensils, and ensure condiments are refilled.
Stay updated on current menu choices, specialties, and menu deviations.
Maintain a proper dining experience by delivering items, fulfilling customer needs, offering desserts and drinks, removing courses, and replenishing utensils and glasses.
Take food and beverage orders from guests and enter them into the POS system.
Properly open and pour wine at the tableside.
Prepare the final bill, present it to the guest, accept payment, process credit card charges, or make change.
Perform side work at the start and end of each shift.
Maintain clean service areas.
Perform basic cleaning tasks as needed or directed by a supervisor.
Other duties as assigned.
