About The Position

The purpose of the Campus Safety Student Guard position is to assist with GCU’s Public Safety department in an effort to keep the campus safe. This role involves directing traffic, checking identification and decals of individuals entering campus, and assisting with other duties as assigned by a Public Safety Supervisor or Manager. The position requires working a minimum of two shifts per week, with a maximum of 20 hours per week. Specific shift needs include Day Shift (0530-1500, excluding Wednesdays), Swing Shift (1430-2100, excluding Wednesdays), and Night Shift (2200-0230, Friday and Saturday nights only). Failure to work the minimum required shifts may result in termination.

Requirements

  • Valid driver's license
  • Clean driving record
  • Enrolled at GCU as a full-time student in a Bachelor’s program or Master’s program.
  • Retain a 2.0 GPA as a Bachelor level student or a 3.0 GPA as a Master level student.
  • Maintain good financial standing with the University.
  • Computer skills, including Microsoft Word and Excel.
  • Must be punctual.
  • Willingness to learn and able to follow procedures.
  • Responsible, trustworthy, approachable, and assertive.

Nice To Haves

  • Criminal Justice Studies or ROTC students preferred.
  • Sophomores and upperclassmen preferred; freshmen will only be considered in special cases.
  • The ideal candidate will have a positive, friendly, and outgoing personality.
  • Customer service oriented.

Responsibilities

  • Direct traffic to different campus locations at booths.
  • Greet, ID, and decal check everyone coming onto campus.
  • Assist with other details as assigned by a Public Safety Supervisor or Manager.
  • Work a minimum of two shifts a week, up to 20 hours a week.
