About The Position

Baylor University’s Office of Media & Public Relations has student writer positions available for enrolled undergraduate students interested in a career in professional writing, journalism or public/media relations. Media & Public Relations (M & PR) maintains the flow of news and information between the University and local, state and national media and keeps records of university media placements. Student writers gain valuable experience writing news releases and feature stories and working alongside staff in a professional atmosphere.

Requirements

  • Strong writing, research, editing and organizational skills.
  • Ability to problem-solve and work with many projects concurrently.
  • Ability to set, prioritize and meet deadlines under pressure.
  • Excellent interpersonal communication skills.
  • Familiarity with various editorial style guides, including AP style.
  • Exhibit a willingness to take initiative and work independently and collaboratively
  • Interest in marketing, public relations, social media and communications

Responsibilities

  • Provide marketing and communications support to assigned area of responsibility
  • Assist with various projects, activities or tasks related to marketing and communications
  • Support marketing and communications strategies and perform duties accordingly
  • Ability to comply with University policies
  • Maintain regular and punctual attendance
