About The Position

The Bishop Scholars Program is seeking enthusiastic and dedicated students to serve as tutors for elementary school students in Delaware City Schools, Columbus City Schools, and Columbus Bilingual Academy North during the Fall 2026 and Spring 2027 semesters. Tutoring sessions are scheduled from Monday to Thursday, with various times available between approximately 8:15 a.m. and 4:00 p.m. This is a paid position that requires candidates to complete an in-person interview, a criminal background check, and mandatory training before acceptance into the program. Transportation to and from partner schools will be provided.

Responsibilities

  • Commit to the full semester.
  • Attend assigned tutoring days.
  • Be punctual for university transportation, which departs at a designated time.
  • Wear appropriate attire as per OWU and partner school guidelines, including a Bishop Scholars or OWU branded shirt.
  • Meet with assigned elementary students on scheduled days and actively tutor in core competencies (primarily Math and Reading) as outlined by the partner school.
  • Complete student tutor logs each assigned day.
  • Communicate any attendance or program concerns to the Bishop Scholars Director at least two hours prior to campus departure.
  • Actively participate in on-campus training sessions and Lunch-and-Learns.
  • Share the mission and work of the Bishop Scholars Program with peers on campus.
  • Represent the Bishop Scholars Program at campus events such as Connection Conferences, symposiums, and recruitment events.
  • Participate in and complete program surveys and reflections.
  • Enter work hours into ADP on assigned tutoring days.
