About The Position

The Associated Students of the University of Nevada (ASUN) is seeking to hire Communication Coordinators for the Department of Campus & Public Relations. ASUN represents every undergraduate student at the University of Nevada and provides a platform for students to voice concerns and address issues at various levels. This role involves supporting the Director & Assistant Director of Campus & Public Relations, assisting with departmental strategic plans, and increasing the visibility of ASUN. The coordinator will produce weekly multimedia content for student updates, cross-promote content across digital platforms, and oversee marketing positions within ASUN. Responsibilities also include attending ASUN Senate meetings, creating weekly legislation digests for social media to enhance transparency, aiding directors with social media posts and internships, ensuring website and multimedia content compliance with ADA accommodations, and attending ASUN retreats and trainings.

Requirements

Candidate must be enrolled at the University of Nevada, Reno
Maintain a 2.00 GPA and be enrolled in at least 7 credits
Perform all duties and instructions outlined by the ASUN Governing Documents
Uphold the Nevada Student Code of Conduct
Meet all deadlines set forth, attend all required meetings and training, work scheduled hours, properly complete and submit HR paperwork on time, assist in the promotion of the mission of ASUN and Nevada, behave in a manner that is ethical, maintain a high level of integrity

Experience in fields such as marketing, journalism, communication studies, and/or related fields through course of study, previous work experience, or extracurricular activities
Excellent written and verbal communication skills to positively represent the Executive Branch internally and externally
Motivation to further the goals and initiatives under the We Are Nevada platform through: Collaborating with the Center for Student Engagement and other campus departments to increase students’ awareness of access to resources to further their success, Coordinating campus-wide surveys to undergraduate students with the Director of Executive Outreach, Meeting consistently with student groups on campus to formulate initiatives and avenues of support pertinent to the limitation and duties of the Executive Branch, Extending participation in and awareness of the Pack Friendly Business Program with the ASUN Vice President
Ability to work effectively and respectfully with politically, ideologically, and culturally diverse people and communities
Excellent organization and project management skills in a team-based environment with multiple projects
Flexibility and adaptability within role; ability to time manage and prioritize tasks

Responsibilities

Act in accordance with and support the Director & Assistant Director of Campus & Public Relations.
Assist with departmental strategic plans and objectives.
Focus on increasing the visibility of the association in the greater campus, local, state, and national communities.
Produce multimedia content to release weekly updates to the students about ASUN, including but not limited to new initiatives, allocations of funds, passed legislation, and upcoming events.
Cross-promote relevant content between the association's digital media platforms, including but not limited to newsletters, blog posts, and social media.
Oversee & guide marketing positions within ASUN.
Attend the ASUN Senate meetings weekly OR biweekly.
Create weekly legislation digests for social media to extend transparency between the association and students.
Aid the director with creating social media posts for the president.
Aid the assistant director with the department's internship.
Ensure that the association’s multimedia-content and ASUN website are compliant with necessary accommodations set forth by the Americans with Disabilities Act.
Attend all ASUN retreats and trainings as decided by the Assistant Director of Campus & Public Relations and the Director of Executive Outreach.
