About The Position

This position involves basic clerical work such as photocopying, typing, running errands, and mailings, as well as more complex tasks related to the organization and facilitation of major Seminary events. The role also includes editing and research, specifically for handbooks and the Seminary web-page. The student worker may also represent the Seminary at various open houses and special events. The Associate Deans/Academic Work-Study supports the Seminary's Academic offices and works closely with the Associate Deans (Rev. Christopher Ciccarino and Dr. Dianne Traflet), the Academic Resource Specialist (Andrew Brenycz), the Coordinator of Graduate & International Services (Diane Carr), the Institutional Research Coordinator (Eilish Harrington) and the Secretary for Support Services (Elizabeth Vacchiano). The student is expected to work a minimum of two-hour blocks of time on weekdays between 8:30 AM and 4:30 PM. They are responsible for special projects, including editing and research, relating to the academic offices of ICSST. A work schedule must be submitted at the beginning of each semester and adhered to, with consideration for academic demands. The student must log their start and end times on the Student Employee Timesheet site and check with the Academic Resource Coordinator for daily priorities.

Responsibilities

  • Represent the Seminary at various open houses and special events
  • Work closely with the Associate Deans, Academic Resource Specialist, Coordinator of Graduate & International Services, Institutional Research Coordinator, and Secretary for Support Services
  • Work on special projects, including editing and research, relating to the academic offices of ICSST
  • Submit a work schedule at the beginning of each semester with the approval of the Associate Dean and Academic Resource Coordinator
  • Enter start time on Student Employee Timesheet site once shift begins
  • Check with the Academic Resource Coordinator for the day's priorities
  • Prioritize the contents of "inbox" and begin working if there is no pressing matter
  • Complete Student Employee Timesheet at the end of the shift, entering the time finished work
  • Along with a Seminary employee, represent the Seminary at one Graduate Open House per semester and at various lectures (generally two per semester) in the Seminary Chapel
  • For events, responsibilities include: Mailing announcements
  • For events, responsibilities include: Preparing Reserved Seating List (for lectures)
  • For events, responsibilities include: Preparing lecture mailing sign up (give to the Coordinator of Graduate & International Services after event)
  • For events, responsibilities include: Setting up an information table
  • For events, responsibilities include: Preparing and ensuring placement of Reserved Seating Signs (for lectures)
  • For events, responsibilities include: Greeting guests and providing information
