About The Position

The Case Manager, Student Wellness provides individual support to students through short-term, solutions-focused counseling as well as University and community-based referrals. In this role, the Case Manager will be responsible for providing direct interventions and support for students struggling with personal life matters impacting their academic journey, such as: mental illness, basic needs insecurities, homelessness, domestic violence, substance abuse, suicidal thoughts/intentions, and/or other matters impacting student wellbeing. The Case Manager will be well versed in public and private forms of basic needs support in communities across the country and will assist the Director of the department with maintaining accurate records of referral options organized by geography and student need. The Case Manager will also provide training, consultation, and support to faculty and staff across National University in an effort to foster a supportive community of wellness.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s Degree required (preferably in social work, psychology, public health, or related field)
  • Minimum 2 years’ experience providing case management services and working with adult student populations required.
  • Develops and maintains effective working relationships with team members, internal partners, customers and other using strong interpersonal skills. Obtains cooperation from others; seeks and encourages win-win alternatives. Works effectively with people outside formal authority to accomplish goals.

Responsibilities

  • Manage active caseload of students, providing brief solutions-focused counseling.
  • Respond to new student referrals in a timely manner and facilitate either ongoing services or referrals across university resources.
  • Provide asynchronous support to students using the institution’s online mental health support program.
  • Provide student wellness relevant trainings to both students and employees.
  • Provide email, phone, and text message support as needed to students, faculty, and staff.
  • Directly assist students in understanding and making informed decisions regarding University policy and procedures as related to personal wellness and emergency situations.
  • Assist the Director in creating and maintaining up to date resource lists/databases for both employees and students.
  • Assist the Director in creating and maintaining proactive outreach strategies related to basic needs insecurities.
  • Assist the Director in responding to and otherwise managing communications through the department email queue.
  • Other duties as assigned.
