About The Position

The Prevention Program Manager is a grant-funded, 1.00 FTE position responsible for coordinating and implementing Yavapai College's student wellness and alcohol and other drug (AOD) prevention initiatives funded through the Arizona Health Care Cost Containment System (AHCCCS) and Yavapai County Community Health Services. Reporting to the Director of Student Social Services, the Program Manager provides day-to-day leadership and coordination of grant-funded prevention activities and ensures that programs, services, and expenditures are implemented in accordance with grant requirements, established timelines, and College priorities. The Program Manager works collaboratively with students, faculty, staff, College departments, community organizations, and state and regional partners to develop and implement evidence-informed prevention strategies that promote student wellness, reduce high-risk alcohol and substance use, strengthen protective factors, and connect students with appropriate campus and community resources. A key responsibility of the position is supporting grant administration, including tracking grant activities and deliverables, maintaining program documentation, collecting and analyzing program data, monitoring progress toward grant goals and objectives, and assisting with required grant reports and continuation or renewal applications.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree from an accredited institution in public health, health education, behavioral health, psychology, counseling, social work, substance use addiction and recovery, education, student affairs, higher education, criminal justice, or a related field.
  • Two years of professional experience in one or more of the following areas: health promotion, substance-use prevention or recovery, behavioral health, healthcare, student wellness, public health, public education, higher education, community prevention, or similar program coordination.
  • Experience working with grant-funded programs, including program implementation, documentation, data collection, performance measurement, and/or grant reporting.
  • Knowledge of grant-funded program implementation, documentation, compliance, and reporting.
  • Strong computer skills, including proficiency with Microsoft Office applications and the ability to learn College information systems.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects, deadlines, grant deliverables, and competing priorities.
  • Strong written communication skills, including preparing professional reports and summaries.
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Ability to plan and facilitate educational programs, trainings, outreach activities, and events.
  • Ability to work independently while collaborating effectively as part of a multidisciplinary team.
  • Ability to work occasional evenings and weekends as required for student programs, trainings, or events.
  • Ability to complete additional training or certification required by AHCCCS or related College requirements.

Nice To Haves

  • Master's degree in public health, behavioral health, psychology, counseling, social work, higher education, student affairs, education, or a related field.
  • Experience with training and program development related to substance abuse prevention or mental health
  • Experience supervising or coordinating student employees, peer educators, interns, or volunteers.
  • Experience working in a community college or higher education environment.
  • Experience developing collaborative partnerships with community organizations, public agencies, or behavioral health providers.

Responsibilities

  • Coordinate the day-to-day implementation of Student Wellness and AOD Prevention Grant, including grant activities, timelines, deliverables, and reports.
  • Monitor progress toward grant goals, objectives, and required deliverables and identify areas requiring additional attention or modification.
  • Maintain accurate documentation of grant-funded activities, participation, outcomes, expenditures, and other information required for grant monitoring and reporting.
  • Develop, implement, and evaluate student wellness and AOD prevention programs and strategies.
  • Coordinate prevention education addressing underage and high-risk alcohol use, marijuana, opioids and other substance use, risk reduction, healthy decision-making, protective factors, and student well-being.
  • Develop and coordinate educational programs, workshops, outreach activities, alcohol-free events, and other prevention programming.
  • Research and recommend evidence-informed prevention programs, screening tools, educational resources, and emerging best practices appropriate for a community college environment.
  • Develop educational and promotional materials in collaboration with College Marketing, Printing Services, and other campus partners.
  • Recruit, train, coordinate, and provide ongoing support of two student peer educators and student wellness fellows involved in grant-funded prevention initiatives.
  • Support student-led wellness and prevention initiatives and training and encourage student involvement in the development and delivery of prevention programming.
  • Coordinate and promote student wellness and substance-use surveys and other assessment activities.
  • Collect, organize, and summarize data related to prevention programs, student participation, and program outcomes.
  • Prepare program summaries, data reports, presentations, and other materials demonstrating progress toward grant goals and outcomes.
  • Develop and maintain collaborative relationships with College departments and programs involved in student health, wellness, safety, residence life, and student success.
  • Develop partnerships with community organizations, prevention coalitions, and public health agencies to expand prevention resources and opportunities for students.
  • Represent Yavapai College on appropriate local, regional, and statewide prevention coalitions, associations, committees, and professional networks.
  • Coordinate purchasing, educational materials, supplies, contracts, and vendor relationships associated with grant-funded programming in accordance with College and grant requirements.
  • Assist with related Student Development and Student Social Services initiatives as appropriate.
  • Perform other duties as assigned that support the goals and objectives of the grant.
