About The Position

This position is designed for a flexible 8-hour work week, with occasional evening or weekend work as needed. The Student Venture Consultant will provide specialized advising and mentorship to support the operations and business development of the student-run kitchen within the Lion’s Pause. This role aims to strengthen student leadership by coaching student managers in various aspects of business management, including food safety, customer service, financial decision-making, and operational best practices. The consultant will develop consistent, replicable resources and systems to enhance business viability, risk management, and customer satisfaction. As a local industry expert, they will bring small-business management, culinary knowledge, and practical operations experience to students. Additionally, the role involves serving as an active resource and advocate to student organizations and leaders, providing general support and coaching to students visiting the Office of Student Activities (OSA), and advising student leaders on budgeting, financial procedures, fundraising, and event planning.

Requirements

  • GED or equivalent work experience
  • 2+ years of professional or related experience in business/restaurant management.

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent work experience
  • 4+ years of professional experience.

Responsibilities

  • Provide specialized advising and mentorship to support the operations and business development of the student-run kitchen within the Lion’s Pause.
  • Strengthen student leadership by coaching student managers in food safety, customer service, financial decision-making, and operational best practices.
  • Develop consistent, replicable resources and systems that improve business viability, risk management, and customer satisfaction.
  • Serve as a local industry expert bringing small-business management, culinary knowledge, and practical operations experience to students.
  • Serve as an active resource and advocate to student organizations and student leaders as requested.
  • Provide general support and coaching to students who visit the OSA.

  • Invest in the professional development of self and team through various means.
  • Assist in the management and troubleshooting of relevant software.

  • Complete and meet deadlines for required training and performance management cycle.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
