About The Position
The Student Technical Assistant supports the technical and production needs of theater, dance, and opera. The position works closely with production management staff.
Requirements
- Little to no experience necessary
- Interest in or basic knowledge of technical theater
- Ability to follow directions and work as part of a team
- Dependable, punctual, and detail-oriented
- Willingness to learn production practices and safety procedures
- Ability to lift and move equipment
Responsibilities
- Scenery construction, load-ins, strikes, and change overs of scenic and lighting elements.
- Loading, unloading, and moving scenic elements to and from warehouse.
- Constructing/refurbishing stock scenery components.
- Hanging, cabling, focusing and troubleshooting lighting equipment and electrical elements.
- Installation, ringing out, troubleshooting, strike of audio equipment.
- Prop management and fabrication
- Perform basic maintenance and keep the scene shop, work areas, and backstage areas clean and safe.
