About The Position

The Student Tech is responsible for the department’s day-to-day operations, patient flow, and efficiency. The role requires general knowledge of the department and collaboration with other healthcare team members to support continuous quality improvement. The Student Tech performs examinations in their specialty according to currently accepted guidelines from Texas DSHS, ACR, and Northwest Texas Healthcare System, and prepares technical reports, exam rooms, equipment, and supplies for procedures. The Student Tech works closely with a technologist and follows the critiques and guidelines provided for daily scanning. The position reports to the modality Supervisor.

Requirements

Current CPR certification.
Enrollment in an educational program relevant to the Student Tech position.
Attain certification within six months of graduating from the educational program.

Responsibilities

Perform a variety of procedures.
Assist radiologists and staff physicians with tests.
Demonstrate skills required for the designated modality.
Provide good patient care.
Use scanning skills appropriate to the modality for which they are hired.
Work cohesively with a technologist and apply the technologist’s critiques and guidelines to daily scanning.
Maintain good communication with the technologist.
Provide an environment conducive to the safety of patients, visitors, and employees.
Report risks to patient safety and activate the chain of command when needed.
Comply with approved standards relating to patients, infection control, and environmental issues.
Prepare technical reports, exam rooms, equipment, and supplies for procedures.
