About The Position

This role involves assisting the Assistant Principal in developing and implementing a high-quality academic program, supervising student scholastic achievement, and maintaining a safe learning environment. The specialist will work with faculty and staff to foster student pride and belonging, collaborate on student discipline and attendance, and help create a positive learning environment that meets the needs of all learners. Collaboration with guidance counselors, social workers, and other support staff is crucial for the total development of students. The position also requires maintaining contact with students' homes and attendance officers, monitoring student attendance, and ensuring compliance with school policies. The specialist will support the Assistant Principal in maintaining a safe and positive climate for students and staff, and perform other duties as assigned by the Head of School and Assistant Principal.

Requirements

  • A Master’s degree from an accredited college or university.
  • Licensure valid for service as a teacher in the Commonwealth of Massachusetts.
  • Licensure valid for service as a Principal/Assistant Principal or Supervisor/Director in the Commonwealth of Massachusetts required.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of best practices in curriculum and student support services.
  • At least five years successful teaching or related experience.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills.

  • Demonstrated computer proficiency preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Assist Assistant Principal in developing and implementing a high-quality academic program for students.
  • Assist in supervising all aspects of scholastic achievement of students.
  • Maintain a safe learning environment through pro-active support and discipline.
  • Work with faculty and staff to promote a sense of pride and belonging among students.
  • Collaborate with Assistant Principal regarding student discipline, attendance, and other student issues.
  • Assist staff in developing a positive learning environment that addresses the needs of all learners.
  • Work with guidance counselors, social workers, and other support staff to ensure the total development of the students.
  • Maintain close contact with the students’ homes as well as with the attendance officers.
  • Monitor student attendance, and ensure compliance with school committee policies regarding attendance.
  • Assist Assistant Principal in all aspects of maintaining a safe and positive climate for students and staff.
  • Perform all other duties as assigned by the Head of School and Assistant Principal.
