High School Special Education Teacher/Guide
About The Position
The STEAD School is seeking a Student Support Guide who is both an educator and adolescent advocate. This role combines teaching expertise with a commitment to supporting students' academic, social, and emotional development. The Student Support Guide will provide individual and small-group academic instruction, remediation, enrichment, and mentoring. They will teach in their area of specialty while contributing talents and interests across the broader school community. The guide will also support students as a generalist educator, helping them develop academic, organizational, social, and emotional skills. They will design engaging, student-centered lessons using approaches such as project-based, collaborative, and student-led learning. The role involves monitoring student progress, providing feedback, maintaining records, and communicating with families and colleagues. The guide will implement IEP and 504 accommodations and support individualized student learning plans. Supervision of students in classrooms, on campus, and during field trips and special events is also a key responsibility. Participation in Accelerator Week, Exhibition Nights, Student-Led Conferences, recruitment events, professional development, and school activities is expected. Collaboration with teachers, counselors, families, and school leadership to address academic and behavioral needs is crucial. The role also requires contributing to a positive, inclusive, collaborative, and safe school culture. Requirements
- A bachelor's degree and appropriate state licensure/accreditation are required.
- Mandatory background checks, including reviewing criminal records and fingerprinting.
- Verification of qualifications and reference checks.
- Adherence to Colorado Education Laws.

- Prior teaching experience.
- Specialized experience working with secondary students.
- The ideal candidate is positive, collaborative, organized, adaptable, and passionate about adolescents, with strong communication, classroom management, problem-solving, and instructional skills.
