High School Special Education Teacher/Guide
About The Position
The STEAD School is seeking a Student Support Guide who is both an educator and adolescent advocate. This role combines teaching expertise with a commitment to supporting students' academic, social, and emotional development. The Student Support Guide will provide individual and small-group academic instruction, remediation, enrichment, and mentoring. They will teach in their area of specialty while contributing talents and interests across the broader school community. The role involves supporting students as a generalist educator, helping them develop academic, organizational, social, and emotional skills. The guide will design engaging, student-centered lessons using approaches such as project-based, collaborative, and student-led learning. They will monitor student progress, provide feedback, maintain records, and communicate with families and colleagues. The position requires implementing IEP and 504 accommodations and supporting individualized student learning plans. Supervision of students in classrooms, on campus, and during field trips and special events is also a key responsibility. Participation in school events like Accelerator Week, Exhibition Nights, Student-Led Conferences, recruitment events, professional development, and other school activities is expected. Collaboration with teachers, counselors, families, and school leadership to address academic and behavioral needs is crucial. The role also involves contributing to a positive, inclusive, collaborative, and safe school culture. This position is for an educator who wants to do more than teach a subject-someone who wants to know students, advocate for them, support their whole development, and contribute meaningfully to the STEAD community.
Requirements
- A bachelor's degree and appropriate state licensure/accreditation are required.

Nice To Haves
- A master's degree is preferred.
- Prior teaching experience is preferred.
- Specialized experience working with secondary students is preferred.
- The ideal candidate is positive, collaborative, organized, adaptable, and passionate about adolescents, with strong communication, classroom management, problem-solving, and instructional skills.
- Experience with project-based and student-led learning is especially valuable.
