About The Position

The Student Success Coordinator serves as an early educational intervention specialist for youth in foster care, taking a proactive approach to identifying educational barriers before they become long-term challenges. Through meaningful conversations, educational planning, and coordinated support, this position partners with youth, caregivers, case management teams, schools, and community providers to empower youth to better understand their educational journey, advocate for themselves, and make informed decisions about their future.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree
  • Minimum of two years of professional experience supporting adolescents in educational, youth development, or child welfare settings.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite and comfortable learning agency databases.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience within K-12 education, student services, school counseling, or educational nonprofits is strongly preferred.
  • Experience navigating Florida K-12 education systems
  • Experience supporting students in foster care
  • Knowledge of graduation requirements, credit recovery, school enrollment, ESE/504 plans, and educational rights of foster youth

Responsibilities

  • Build trusting relationships with youth through strengths-based conversations that encourage confidence, self-advocacy, and active participation in planning for their educational future.
  • Help youth explore educational interests, career pathways, post-secondary opportunities, and extracurricular involvement while preparing them to successfully navigate high school and adulthood.
  • Review educational records, transcripts, and available documentation to identify potential concerns requiring follow-up.
  • Assist youth, caregivers, and case management staff in understanding graduation requirements, credit recovery opportunities, educational accommodations, and available school-based supports.
  • Coordinate timely follow-up with caregivers, case managers, schools, and community partners to remove barriers and ensure educational concerns are addressed.
  • Provide guidance and consultation on educational concerns, including school performance, educational planning, GED options, post-secondary planning, and navigating school systems.
  • Serve as a trusted educational resource by building collaborative relationships with youth, caregivers, schools, case managers, and community partners to improve educational outcomes.
  • Maintain proactive communication with youth, caregivers, schools, case managers, and multidisciplinary partners to ensure coordinated support and timely follow-up.
  • Attend transition meetings and other multidisciplinary meetings as appropriate to support educational planning and successful outcomes.
  • Collaborate closely with Youth Services team to identify trends, remove barriers, and strengthen educational support across the system of care.
  • Independently prioritize workload, manage follow-up activities, and exercise sound judgment in responding to emerging educational needs.
  • Maintain accurate, timely, and thorough documentation of all youth contacts, recommendations, follow-up activities, and outcomes.
  • Assist in collecting and analyzing program data to evaluate educational outcomes and identify opportunities for program improvement.
  • Maintain compliance with all applicable Florida Statutes, Administrative Code, DCF requirements, agency policies, and contractual expectations.
  • Provide excellent customer service by being professional and respectful in all interactions each and every day.
  • Be timely and responsive in their communication with others.
