About The Position

The Student Success Coach is responsible for supporting student career readiness, postsecondary planning, and successful high school completion through the implementation of Educational Development Plans (EDPs), the Michigan Career Development Model, work-based learning experiences, and individualized student support services. The Success Coach provides individualized and small-group support to students in grades 9-12 by utilizing academic, attendance, behavior, and career readiness indicators to identify barriers to success and implement targeted interventions. The position supports the district's Continuous School Improvement (CSI) goals identified for Pathways High School by increasing student engagement in career development activities, strengthening postsecondary planning, expanding work-based learning opportunities, and improving outcomes related to graduation and college and career readiness.

Requirements

Bachelor's degree in Education, Social Work, Counseling, Youth Development, Career Development, Human Services, or a related field required.

Nice To Haves

Experience implementing Restorative Practices and relationship-centered student supports.
Successful experience working with secondary students experiencing academic, attendance, behavioral, social-emotional, or postsecondary planning barriers.
Experience with PBIS (Positive Behavioral Interventions and Supports).
Knowledge of the Michigan Career Development Model, Educational Development Plans (EDPs), career pathways, and career readiness indicators preferred.
Ability to establish and maintain partnerships with employers, community organizations, postsecondary institutions, and workforce development agencies.
Experience coordinating career exploration, college and career readiness, mentoring, job shadowing, internships, work-based learning, or community partnership programs preferred.
Understanding of workforce readiness competencies, employability skills, and postsecondary planning processes.
Knowledge of community resources and social service agencies that support student success.
Working knowledge of intervention strategies that improve attendance, engagement, behavior, academic achievement, and graduation outcomes.
Ability to establish positive relationships and communicate effectively with students, families, staff, employers, and community partners.
Ability to analyze, implement, monitor, and report student outcome data, including academic, attendance, behavior, and career readiness indicators.
Self-starter with a flexible, growth mindset and ability to work independently in a dynamic environment.
Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple student caseloads, community partnerships, and career readiness initiatives simultaneously.
Master's degree preferred.

Responsibilities

Support students in the development, implementation, and monitoring of Educational Development Plans (EDPs).
Utilize academic, attendance, behavior, engagement, and career readiness indicators to identify students who may be experiencing barriers to graduation and postsecondary success.
Meet regularly with identified students to establish goals, monitor progress, build self-advocacy skills, and support attainment of EDP objectives.
Facilitate career awareness, career exploration, and career planning activities aligned with student interests, strengths, and future goals.
Support students in developing employability skills including communication, collaboration, critical thinking, problem solving, professionalism, and workplace readiness.
Coordinate and expand student access to career-focused experiences including guest speakers, industry tours, job shadows, internships, apprenticeships, and work-based learning opportunities.
Collaborate with local businesses, industry partners, postsecondary institutions, and community organizations to strengthen career pathways and workforce connections.
Assist students and families with postsecondary planning, including college exploration, career and technical education opportunities, financial aid awareness, training programs, military pathways, and workforce entry options.
Collaborate with counselors, teachers, administrators, families, and community partners to address barriers that may impact career readiness, school engagement, and graduation.
Monitor and report student participation and progress related to career readiness indicators, EDP completion, work-based learning participation, credential attainment, and postsecondary planning activities.
Maintain accurate records of student interventions, career development activities, work-based learning placements, and outcome data.
Monitor and support student progress toward district and state Career Readiness Indicators (CRIs), including EDP completion, work-based learning participation, credential attainment, career exploration experiences, and postsecondary planning milestones.
Evaluate the effectiveness of career readiness initiatives and intervention strategies through data analysis and continuous improvement processes.
Utilize student outcome data to support school improvement goals and reduce achievement and opportunity gaps among identified student populations.
Participate in school improvement initiatives and contribute to the achievement of district CSI goals related to career readiness, graduation outcomes, and equitable opportunities for all learners.
