About The Position

The chief purpose of the Student Success Center Coordinator is to oversee the operations of the Center, ensuring quality service for all students using the Center. This role involves developing, implementing, and coordinating all programs within the Student Success Center, including staff selection, hiring, training, and supervision. The coordinator is responsible for researching best practices for learning centers, liaising with other colleges to establish state-wide best practices, and collaborating with faculty on implementation. They will also develop and implement supplemental materials for tutoring, provide support to student success efforts, and communicate services to stakeholders. Data collection, reporting, and outreach to other programs are key aspects, as is collaboration across campus for academically at-risk students, including early intervention and workshops. The role serves as a liaison between the tutoring center and faculty, organizes specific courses, and empowers students to become lifelong learners. Developing tutor training processes, submitting reports, managing supplies, and ensuring compliance with college and agency policies are also essential duties. The position may involve serving on committees and performing other assigned tasks.

Requirements

  • Master’s degree required.
  • Minimum three years of experience in an academic setting, preferably a community college setting.
  • Experience teaching student success courses, and or experience in tutoring.
  • Possess strong personal and professional integrity, effective verbal and written communication skills, and a commitment to safety.
  • Proficiency using Microsoft Office Suite or similar products, database systems, College email and website, and other computer applications associated with the position.
  • Ability to deal effectively with students, faculty, staff, and the public.
  • Knowledge of budget preparation, monitoring, and administration.

Responsibilities

  • Provide leadership and consistency to the Student Success Center
  • Develop, implement, and coordinate all programs in the Student Success Center including the selection, hiring, training, and supervision of staff for center operations
  • Research best practices for learning centers, liaise with other colleges to determine state-wide best practices for Student Success Center (college learning centers) and collaborate with other faculty on implementation
  • Research, establish, develop, and implement supplemental materials for tutoring purposes
  • Provide support to student success efforts at the college
  • Provide information to college and community stakeholders regarding Student Success Center services, activities, needs, etc.
  • Develop and implement assessment and action plans
  • Collect and report data as needed
  • Provide outreach to other programs to determine ways the Student Success Center can meet the needs of BRCC students
  • Collaborate across campus to provide services for academically at-risk students, including early intervention referrals and workshops (math, English, library skills, study skills, etc)
  • Serve as a liaison between the tutoring center and faculty and collaborate with faculty to offer faculty tutoring within the center
  • Class visits to ensure that students and faculty are aware of the Student Success Center and its services
  • Work with IT as needed to meet the needs of the Student Success Center
  • Organize and manage DRE 096/MAT 050 courses in the Student Success Center
  • Empower students to become lifelong learners and succeed in their academic, professional, and personal pursuits
  • Develop and implement a training process for tutors
  • Create and submit all reports for the Center in a timely manner
  • Create forms and update forms when needed
  • Inventory supplies and place orders when needed
  • Contact BRCC personnel when there are problems (e.g., IT, maintenance).
  • Ensure compliance and confidentiality with all policies and procedures of the College, NC Community College System, and applicable State and Federal agencies.
  • Implements college policies and procedures.
  • Serves on committees in support of the College’s mission.
  • Performs other tasks as assigned.
