About The Position

Under general supervision, this role coordinates outreach, recruitment, on-boarding, and case management for participants in Leeward Community College workforce training programs. The specialist will facilitate student access to hybrid and online courses, provide technical support, and promote program awareness for non-credit students transitioning to credit or prior learning options. This involves serving as a liaison with faculty and staff, guiding students through the transition process, and coordinating referrals to community partner services for wrap-around support. Additionally, the role involves coordinating employer engagement and work-based learning outreach, facilitating participant referrals for internships, apprenticeships, and job opportunities, and supporting student advancement in college and career pathways. The specialist will also monitor and facilitate participants' completion of industry certification exams and attainment of credentials, and build/implement a data collection process to track industry credential attainment and employment outcomes. Other duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • Possession of a baccalaureate degree in Education, Psychology, Public Health, Social Work, Business, or related field and 3 year(s) of progressively responsible professional experience for educational programs or social work; or any equivalent combination of education and/or professional work experience.
  • Considerable working knowledge of principles, practices and techniques in the area of coordinating education, social work, case management or workforce-related programming.
  • Considerable working knowledge and understanding of applicable federal and state laws, rules, regulations and theories and systems associated with federally and state-funded workforce development and education programs.
  • Demonstrated ability to resolve wide ranging complex problems through the use of creative reasoning and logic.
  • Demonstrated ability to interpret and present information and ideas clearly and accurately in writing, verbally and by preparation of reports and other materials.
  • Demonstrated ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with internal and external organizations, groups, team leaders and members, and individuals.
  • Demonstrated ability to operate a personal computer and apply word processing software.
  • Demonstrated experience with recruitment, marketing, case management and/or college and career advising.
  • Demonstrated ability to understand and follow complex oral and written instructions.
  • Ability to participate in off-campus meetings and/or travel to other islands.
  • Ability to work outside of normal work hours including evenings and weekends.

  • Possession of a master's degree.

Responsibilities

  • Coordinate outreach, recruitment, on-boarding and case management activities for Oahu resident participants in Leeward Community College workforce training programs.
  • Facilitate student access to hybrid and online courses for workforce training and provide technical support for students.
  • Promote program awareness for non-credit students transitioning to credit prior learning options by serving as a liaison with Leeward CC faculty and staff, and guiding students through the transition process.
  • Coordinate referrals to community partner services for students in need of wrap-around supports.
  • Coordinate employer engagement and work-based learning outreach with campus stakeholders and facilitate participant referrals for internships, apprenticeships, job opportunities and attainment of employment outcomes.
  • Support student advancement in college and career pathways through referrals to additional Leeward CC and UHCC grant-funded services and related programs.
  • Monitor and facilitate participants' completion of industry certification exams and attainment of credentials.
  • Build and implement a data collection process to track industry credential attainment and employment outcomes.
