About The Position

Friendly Academy is a new K-5 charter school in St. Louis, MO, dedicated to providing a quality and holistic education rooted in love. The school aims to empower students to live purpose-driven lives and make a positive impact. With a goal to start with 100 students and grow by 75 annually, Friendly Academy is seeking a Student Services Manager to act as a liaison between the school and the community. This role is crucial for achieving enrollment targets and building strong relationships with families, ensuring they feel welcomed, supported, and valued throughout their experience with the school.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in a related field (e.g., communications, marketing, education, or social work) preferred; equivalent experience will be considered.
  • Demonstrated experience in family engagement, recruitment, or community outreach, ideally within an educational or nonprofit setting.
  • Proficiency in data management systems, CRM tools, student information systems (SIS), and social media platforms for outreach and engagement.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to connect with diverse families and community stakeholders.
  • Deep understanding of and sensitivity to the cultural and socioeconomic diversity of the families we serve.
  • Willingness to work non-traditional hours when needed, including some evenings and weekends for events and community outreach.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and implement strategies to achieve enrollment goals (100 students in year one, 75 annually thereafter).
  • Conduct outreach initiatives, including events, school tours, and community partnerships, to attract prospective families.
  • Represent Friendly Academy at community events and fairs.
  • Oversee social media platforms for student recruitment and family engagement.
  • Support the planning, organization, and execution of the student lottery process.
  • Engage with student recruitment consultants to align on strategies and implement best practices.
  • Lead the intent to return process each year to meet scholar persistence goals.
  • Build strong relationships with enrolled families to foster belonging and engagement.
  • Proactively identify scholars at risk of withdrawal and coordinate interventions with school leadership and staff.
  • Track retention actions, withdrawal reasons, and persistence outcomes to improve strategy.
  • Act as a liaison between families and staff, addressing concerns and facilitating resolutions.
  • Assist families in identifying and accessing community wraparound services.
  • Conduct home visits to build relationships, assess needs, and provide support.
  • Create and organize family engagement events and initiatives.
  • Lead family communications, including drafting and sending newsletters and announcements.
  • Maintain family contact logs and track satisfaction through surveys and feedback.
  • Develop partnerships with local organizations, businesses, and community stakeholders.
  • Track partner contributions and family feedback.
  • Serve as the primary contact for inquiries from prospective families.
  • Manage the school's transportation vendor, ensuring reliability and communication.
  • Coordinate transportation routes and timing, and respond to family concerns.
  • Maintain documentation for transportation compliance and reporting.
  • Assist the Director of Operations with student registration processes.
  • Provide support for enrollment data entry, maintenance, and verification in student information systems.
  • Participate in meetings and trainings related to the Common School Application process.
  • Track enrollment data, outreach activities, and family engagement metrics.
  • Provide regular reports to the Director of Operations on enrollment and persistence goals.
  • Participate in daily school operations, including arrival, lunch, and dismissal systems.
  • Support special-day logistics such as field trips and assemblies.
