About The Position

The Student Services Coordinator working with Transfer Student Programs is expected to implement transitional programs and services during the academic year to connect and support new and current transfer students to the university community. This position provides leadership to transfer student programs and coordinates the efforts of the UNT Transfer Center alongside the Assistant Director and Executive Director.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in related field and two years of student services, student affairs, counseling, advising, or related experience; or any equivalent combination of education, training and experience.
  • Excellent public speaking skills with experience in conducting training workshops.
  • Ability to provide leadership and mentoring to student populations.
  • Experience in networking across departments and programs.
  • Ability to communicate and work with multiple constituent groups.
  • Strong organizational skills and ability to simultaneously execute multiple projects.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication and computer skills.
  • Valid Driver's License

  • Master's Degree in college student affairs, counseling, higher education or closely related field.

Responsibilities

  • Effectively coordinates, implements, and provides leadership and support for initiatives to support new and current transfer students' transition to the university.
  • Effectively coordinate and implement programs for National Transfer Student Week that celebrate and engage transfer students in the university community.
  • Coordinate and implement the First Flight Transfer Experience program and other welcome week activities for new transfer students at the start of the fall and spring semesters.
  • Responsible for the organization and implementation of the transfer mentoring program supporting first-year transfer students.
  • Effectively organize transfer communities, activities, and program series such as Transfer Tuesdays, with the purpose of community building among new transfer students.
  • Effectively hire, train, and supervise the Transfer Ambassador team.
  • Effectively hires, terminates, organizes, trains, and evaluates one paid Graduate Assistant.
  • Plan the Eagle for a Day program for prospective transfer students each spring and fall semester in collaborations with Admissions.
  • Serves as the departmental liaison to the campus-wide Admissions Events Committee, representing the Transfer Center for admissions events and travel/recruitment.
  • Supports the university's initiative of all first-year students having a peer mentor.
  • Serve as the staff advisor for Tau Sigma, a national honor society recognizing transfer students at UNT and the campus student organization.
  • Responsible for updating publications, advertising program services to the campus community, and maintaining appropriate branding standards for all program advertisements, promotional items, and social media posts.
  • Effectively manage the Transfer Center space within the Orientation and Transition Programs office. This includes the upkeep of equipment, inventory, and the scheduling of staff.
  • Establish learning outcomes for all programs, and actively contribute to the department's assessment plan by completing program all evaluations and executive summaries.
  • Collaborates and maintains effective working relationships with divisions and units across campus.
  • Exhibits good judgment in decisions pertaining to fiscal matters.
  • Attends training workshops/programs when applicable to improve skills, abilities, and maintain knowledge of the field.
