About The Position

This position will serve as the general advising contact for students. Responsibilities will include assisting students with appropriate courses and program of study selection and explaining program of study plans, admission, and registration procedures. The Advisor will work as part of the Enrollment Services team with recruitment efforts, advisement, retention efforts, and orientation. Additional duties include but not limited to: Assist students in planning educational programs compatible with their interests, needs, and abilities. Assist with orientation programs and/or classes. Provide support to students by connecting students to internal and external resources. Prepare documents, reports, and routine correspondence. Maintain confidentiality of information exposed to in the course of business regarding students, supervisors or other employees. Represent the college at appropriate community events, college and career fairs. Inform students of requirements for academic transfer and professional/technical programs and/or degrees. Explain program of study plans, admission and registration procedures. Assist with assessment and financial aid, and other requirements necessary for enrollment. Assist students in clarifying educational, career, and life goals. Assist students with appropriate course and program of study selection. Maintain regular and punctual attendance. Contribute to the overall mission of the college by performing all other duties and responsibilities as assigned.

Requirements

  • Associate degree required
  • Strong interpersonal, organizational, written and oral communication skills.
  • Ability to make public presentations as required.
  • Ability to plan and manage own workflow, priorities, and report accomplishments.
  • Ability to interact and effectively communicate with a diverse employee and student population.
