About The Position

The Department of Physics within the College of Arts and Sciences seeks a Student Research Technician to join our team. The College of Arts and Sciences is the largest college and the academic heart of the university. The College hosts 81 majors. With 38 departments, 20+ world-class research centers, and more than 2,000 faculty and staff members, students have the unique opportunity to study with the best artists, scholars, and scientists in their field. The Student Research Technician will support a Physics education research project. This includes data collection, analysis, and dissemination of findings as appropriate. These students will gather, organize, and document data. Student(s) will need good communication, reporting and presentation skills. In addition to being excellent speakers, they may also have to be effective listeners to understand subjects and regarding the research process.

Requirements

  • Completed at least one physics course at OSU, preferably Physics 1248/1249.
  • Complete Collaborative Institutional Training Initiative (CITI) CITI training.
  • Be added to various institutional IRBs (e.g. held at various universities) where the research is housed.
  • Read and follow IRB approved protocols for collecting, accessing, and analyzing data for the respective projects.
  • Follow protocol through the duration of the project.
  • Knowledge of physics courses and culture.
