About The Position

The undergraduate research assistant will perform and conduct independent laboratory work, including protein characterization and functionality studies, sunflower protein isolation, and LC-MS analysis. The role also involves characterizing a chlorogenic acid esterase in sunflower protein solutions, communicating findings orally and in writing, and completing routine tasks related to laboratory safety, records, and supply orders. Other duties may be assigned.

Requirements

• Little to minimal prior experience.
• Ability to learn departmental processes.
• Familiarity with Microsoft Office Suite.

Responsibilities

• Conduct laboratory work and food chemical analysis of sunflower proteins.
• Isolate sunflower proteins and study their functionality.
• Perform fluorescence analysis.
• Perform LC-MS analysis.
• Characterize a chlorogenic acid esterase in sunflower protein solutions.
• Communicate findings orally and in written format.
• Complete routine tasks related to maintaining lab safety and records, and ordering supplies.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
