About The Position

This position is for a part-time undergraduate student to assist with field, greenhouse, and laboratory research within the Field Crops Weed Science Program at Oregon State University (OSU). The student will gain hands-on experience in weed science, crop production, and agricultural research. Requirements

  • Academically enrolled in a high school, community college, or university and pursuing a course of study.
  • Meet Academic Standing Requirements.
  • Meet the applicable minimal enrollment standard (e.g., 6 credit hours per term for undergraduate students).
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Strong attention to detail and willingness to learn.
  • Reliable and punctual.
  • Ability to conduct field work.
  • Must successfully complete a Motor Vehicle History Check.
  • Possess and maintain a current, valid driver's license in their state of residence.
  • Be determined to be position qualified and self-report convictions as per OSU standards.

Nice To Haves

  • Interest or background in crop science, agronomy, weed science, biology, or related areas.
  • Previous experience with fieldwork, greenhouse work, or lab research.

Responsibilities

  • Assist with field and greenhouse research, including setup, maintenance, data collection, and harvest.
  • Assist with laboratory work, sample processing, and data entry.
  • Maintain clean and safe research areas and equipment.
  • Follow research and safety protocols.
