About The Position

This is a grant-funded position for an Undergraduate Research Assistant (URA) to assist with a federally funded research project. The project focuses on exploring the use of a virtual reality mindfulness intervention to improve HIV, substance use, and mental health outcomes among people living with HIV who also use substances. The position can be assigned 10-20 hours per week, with reassignment based on performance, progress, and funding continuation. The URA must be authorized to work in the United States and enrolled in at least 12 enrollment hours for the Fall and/or Spring semesters.

Requirements

  • Undergraduate student at The University of Texas at Austin must be enrolled in at least 12 enrollment hours.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Comfortable engaging with community members and representing the study in public settings.
  • Strong organizational and communication skills.
  • Attention to detail and ability to maintain accurate records.
  • Ability to handle confidential and sensitive information with discretion.
  • Must be authorized to work in the United States on a full-time basis for any employer without sponsorship.

Nice To Haves

  • Interested in behavioral health, technology-based interventions, HIV research, or public health.
  • Prior research or community work experience.

Responsibilities

  • Recruit and schedule participants.
  • Conduct study orientation sessions with participants (in-person or via Zoom).
  • Provide ongoing participant support.
  • Assist with data collection, including administering surveys, conducting interviews or focus groups (in-person or via Zoom), and helping participants complete study procedures.
  • Manage research records and documentation.
  • Assist with community outreach activities.
  • Attend weekly team meetings.
  • Other research opportunities & duties as assigned.
