About The Position

This position functions as a Student Research Assistant to provide support for the daily operations in a research laboratory within the Department of Medicine | Psychiatry-JM. The role involves assisting with research activities under direct supervision, collecting and organizing research data, preparing media, solutions, and reagents for experiments, performing and maintaining cell cultures, conducting library research, washing glassware, autoclaving (sterilizing) glassware, tools, and equipment, and assisting with inventory and maintenance of research supplies.

Requirements

  • High School Graduate or equivalency required.
  • Must be enrolled in a degree-granting program at OSU.
  • Requires successful completion of a background check.
  • Knowledge and understanding of biology, chemistry and basic science research techniques and equipment desired.

Responsibilities

  • Performing administrative duties in an office.
  • Assisting in a research laboratory.
  • Aiding faculty/staff in supporting academic programs or patient care.
  • Assisting with research activities under direct supervision.
  • Assisting with collection of and organizes research data.
  • Prepares media, solutions, and reagents for use in experiments.
  • Performs and maintains cell cultures.
  • Conducts library research.
  • Washes glassware used in laboratory.
  • Autoclaves (sterilizes) glassware, tools and equipment as needed.
  • Assists with inventory and maintenance of research supplies.
