About The Position

The Stephens Family Clinical Research Institute (SFCRI) at Carle Health is looking to hire up to six student research assistants for the Carle Clinical Imaging Research Program. This program focuses on clinical and translational biomedical imaging research and utilizes advanced imaging resources including a 7T Siemens MAGNETOM Terra MRI scanner (jointly owned with the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign), two 3T Siemens MRI scanners, ultrasound, and near-infrared spectroscopy. Student research assistants will support researchers in various projects such as cardiac MRI quality assurance, studies on human skeletal muscle and brown adipose tissue, and magnetic resonance spectroscopy of the brain and other organs.

Requirements

Enrolled in an undergraduate or graduate program in an engineering or biomedical science discipline.
Completed coursework in Calculus and linear algebra.
Experienced with scientific programming.
Outstanding work habits and organizational skills.
Scientific compute software

Responsibilities

Plans and conducts library and literature searches.
Assists in acquiring and analyzing data from biomedical imaging studies.
Regularly consults with Principal Investigator on progress.
Conducts activities according to ethical and scientific standards.
May contribute sections of manuscripts as secondary author.
May present findings and/or participate in professional development programs at local or regional conferences.
Participates in scientific collaborative activities with other investigators.
Analyzes imaging or spectroscopy data per requirements of principal investigator.
Writes final progress report at end of employment period.
Stores data and computer codes per requirements of principal investigator.
