About The Position

ALTA VISTA INNOVATION HIGH SCHOOL is seeking a Full Time Student Relations Technician to work Monday - Friday; 8 a.m. - 4:30 p.m. This position provides support to various school sites within the region including East Los Angeles, Gardena, Inglewood, Los Angeles and Watts. The role may require travel between locations to meet site-specific needs. Bilingual in English/Spanish is preferred to support communication with students and families. This role is for individuals passionate about working with students and supporting their growth and development.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or General Education required.
  • 2 years of work experience in a fast-paced, clerical support position in a professional business setting.
  • Good attention to detail and maintain accuracy of work.
  • Good record keeping techniques that demonstrate desirable planning and organizational skills.
  • Prepare general, statistical and special reports.
  • Proficient or Intermediate skills in MS Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook).
  • Ability to travel in performance of job duties is required.
  • Demonstrates excellent customer service skills including the ability to greet customers in a friendly manner and provide responsive, timely, and accurate follow-up to questions and inquiries.
  • Multi-tasking skills; ability to react and respond to changing circumstances, procedures.
  • Respond to requests and inquiries from students, visitors, employees and supervisors.
  • Able to work under tight deadlines and handle multiple requests or interruptions while still completing projects or work assignments in a timely manner.
  • Ability to communicate effectively both orally and in writing.
  • Ability to work independently with minimal direction.

Responsibilities

  • Creates and maintains files related to the management of student records, data input, reconciliation, correspondence and public contact.
  • Communicates with students and/or parents in appropriate areas of student information, progress, or concerns.
  • Performs a variety of complex and specialized activities related to student records and all compliance issues related to Average Daily Attendance (ADA) and State educational mandates.
  • Schedules orientation for incoming students.
  • Complies with expulsion, ELL and special education, re-enrollment and reinstatement enrollment protocols.
  • Ensures all required student enrollment paperwork is complete and correct.
  • Accurately inputs student information into SIS including immunizations, enrollment dates, school track, and supervising teacher.
  • Properly issues and tracks student work permits.
  • Provides quality customer service.
  • Answers all incoming telephone calls and handles them in the appropriate manner.
  • Files documents in student folders.
  • ADA tracking and recording of work samples for accuracy.
  • Audits student work samples as well as all documents that require mandatory compliance (Master Agreement, WSR, DLL, Synopsis, Report Cards, etc.).
  • Checks report cards for completeness and accuracy before going to the registrar.
  • Files student homework.
  • Conducts Orientations for new students.
  • Assists teachers with problem-solving issues with compliance and PLS.
  • Creates and maintains compliance and ADA checklists.
  • Verifies and confirms ADA in SIS system with form and tracking number.
  • Submits compliance error reports to management.
  • Adheres to attendance policies.
  • Performs administrative duties, responsibilities, and activities as assigned.
