About The Position

Southern New Hampshire University (SNHU) is seeking motivated student leaders for the Penmen Tour Guide position within the Admissions Office. This role is vital in representing the university to prospective students, their families, and other visitors. The position involves conducting engaging and informative campus tours, sharing personal student experiences, and answering questions to provide visitors with a thorough understanding of SNHU's offerings, culture, and environment.

Requirements

  • Current undergraduate or graduate student status at the university.
  • Excellent verbal communication and public speaking skills.
  • Friendly, approachable, and able to interact effectively with diverse groups of people.
  • Familiarity with the university's campus, programs, services, and student life.
  • Punctual, dependable, and able to manage time effectively.
  • Willingness to work flexible hours, including some weekends and evenings.
  • Passionate about the university and eager to share that enthusiasm with others.

Nice To Haves

  • Students with Federal Work Study are preferred.
  • Prior experience in a customer service or public-facing role.
  • Involvement in campus activities, organizations, or leadership roles.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct Campus Tours: Lead groups of prospective students, families, and other visitors on tours of the campus, providing detailed and accurate information about campus facilities, academic programs, student services, and campus life. Tailor tours to the interests and needs of different groups.
  • Engage and Inform Visitors: Share personal experiences and insights about being a student at SNHU and answer visitor questions knowledgeably and in a friendly manner. Highlight unique aspects and strengths of SNHU.
  • Represent the University: Serve as an ambassador for SNHU, embodying its values and mission, and maintaining a professional and approachable demeanor to promote a positive image.
  • Assist with Events: Support Admission Counselors in preparing for and working special events such as Open Houses and Accepted Student Days.
  • Stay Informed: Keep up-to-date with university programs, policies, and events, and participate in training sessions to enhance tour guiding skills and knowledge.
  • Administrative Duties: Assist with administrative tasks related to office projects and event preparation.

Benefits

  • Hourly pay range of $13.00 - $15.00.
