About The Position

The Faculty of Engineering, Department of Civil Engineering at the University of Ottawa is seeking a Student Part-Time Professor for the Fall 2026 semester to teach Engineering Mechanics (GNG1105, Section A). This course covers concepts of engineering mechanics, including the statics of particles and rigid bodies, free body diagrams, simple structures (trusses, frames, and machines), and rectilinear and curvilinear motion. The expected enrollment is 165 students, and the course is worth 3 credits. The language of instruction is English, with a requirement for competence in a second language. The course schedule includes sessions on Wednesdays from 10:00 AM to 11:30 AM and Fridays from 8:30 AM to 10:00 AM at 161 Louis Pasteur (CBY) C03.

Requirements

  • Expertise in engineering mechanics.
  • Background in mechanical engineering.
  • Licensed or eligible for licensing as a professional engineer in one of the provinces of Canada.
  • Must have completed mandatory legislated training.

Responsibilities
