About The Position

The Faculty of Engineering, Department of Civil Engineering at the University of Ottawa is seeking a Regular Part-Time Professor to teach Théorie des structures I (CVG3540). This course covers the analysis of statically determinate beams and frames, including deflection calculations using various methods. It also delves into the analysis of statically indeterminate beams, frames, and trusses using methods of forces, flexibility, rotations, and moment distribution. Influence lines for beams, frames, and trusses, as well as the analysis of statically determinate cables and arches, and an introduction to structural overloads are also part of the curriculum. The expected enrollment for this course is 60 students, and it is a 3-credit course.

Requirements

  • Doctorate preferred, or equivalent, in Civil Engineering
  • Experience and/or specialization in the course subject matter
  • P.Eng or EIT will be given priority
  • Prerequisites: CVG2540 and CVG2549
  • Bilingualism is an asset
