About The Position

The University of Ottawa is seeking a Student Part-Time Professor for the course GRT1501 A00, Introduction to Aging, for the Fall 2026 semester. This course will be offered remotely and will cover aging as a biological, psychological, and sociological phenomenon within a Canadian context. It will also examine the aging of society and its impact on economic, political, and social realities, as well as the links between aging and ageism, suicide, and other social issues. Requirements

Completed Doctorate or thesis nearing completion in social sciences with a specialization in gerontology.
OR Master's degree completed with 5 years of experience in the field of gerontology.
An acceptable level of education and/or experience could be viewed as being equivalent to the educational required and/or demonstrated experience.
Successful completion of all mandatory legislated training as required by provincial law.

Nice To Haves

Teaching experience in gerontology is an asset.

Responsibilities

Teach Introduction to Aging (GRT1501 A00) during the Fall 2026 semester.
Deliver the course remotely.
Cover topics including aging as a biological, psychological, and sociological phenomenon in a Canadian context.
Examine the aging of society and its impact on economic, political, and social realities.
Discuss the links between aging and ageism, suicide, and other social issues.
