About The Position

The Engineering Student Center within the University of Wisconsin–Madison College of Engineering (CoE) seeks a dynamic and collaborative professional to serve as the Student Organization & Engagement Manager. This position plays a central role in advancing student engagement, leadership development, and co-curricular learning across the College. The Student Organization & Engagement Manager is responsible for supporting nearly 70 engineering student organizations by providing guidance on organizational operations, ensuring compliance with university policies, and fostering inclusive, high-impact student experiences. The role includes overseeing the planning and execution of large-scale programs and events that enhance community, belonging, and professional development within the engineering student population. The Student Organization & Engagement Manager provides strategic leadership for key student engagement initiatives, including the Badger Engineer Engage program for first-year students, ensuring these efforts align with institutional priorities and advance student success. This role also manages the student organization grant process in collaboration with campus partners, ensuring equitable and transparent allocation of resources. Through cross-campus partnerships, intentional program development, and a commitment to student-centered leadership, the position contributes to enriching the undergraduate experience within the College of Engineering.

Requirements

  • 3-5 years of professional experience in college student affairs, student organization advising, or campus engagement
  • Experience in developing and implementing student-centered programs and services
  • Experience designing and facilitating workshops and programs on topics such as leadership, conflict resolution, cultural competency, and organizational management, ideally for student organizations
  • Experience leading and supporting large-scale events and programs
  • Experience designing or delivering programs, advising, or services for students from a wide range of backgrounds
  • Bachelor's degree required - preferred area in Higher Education Administration, Student Affairs, Counseling, Sociology, Psychology, STEM, or related field.
  • Continuous work eligibility in the United States

Responsibilities

  • Monitors, evaluates, and modifies processes, procedures, and/or standards, ensuring alignment with the Institution's mission, values, goals, and objectives, as well as all local, state, and federal laws and regulations.
  • May exercise supervisory authority, including hiring, transferring, suspending, promoting, managing conduct and performance, discharging, assigning, rewarding, disciplining, and/or approving hours worked of at least 2.0 FTE or equivalent employees
  • Plans, organizes, administers, and manages processes and operations related to assigned area(s) of responsibility
  • May monitor the program budget and approve expenditures
  • Schedules logistics and secures resources to support the operational plans of the program or unit
  • Serves as the program or unit liaison to internal and external stakeholder groups
  • Advises and enforces Institution policies related to services in Student Affairs
