About The Position

The Student Office Assistant, Scholarly Innovation & Student Research assists with various clerical duties as needed. This role involves greeting visitors, answering basic questions, routing calls, assisting with small projects, preparing event flyers, and supporting social media campaigns.

Requirements

  • Must be enrolled as a degree-seeking student at Florida Gulf Coast University at the time of hire and throughout the appointment.
  • Experience operating a computer and proficient with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, and Outlook).
  • Excellent interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills.
  • Ability to accurately prepare and maintain records, files, and reports.
  • Ability to exercise good judgement.
  • Ability to multi-task and work under pressure.
  • Ability to meet deadlines for work assignments.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality of work-related information and materials.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced and high-volume environment.
  • Ability to represent the university in a positive and professional manner.
  • Ability to establish and maintain a good rapport with university faculty, staff, students, and the general public.
  • Promote a common purpose consistent with stated University goals and demonstrate a commitment to students and the learning environment.

  • Social media and video editing experience preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Greets visitors and provides information.
  • Answers basic general questions and route visitors to the appropriate department.
  • Answers phones and routes calls.
  • Completes small assigned projects as needed.
  • Prepares event flyers using Canva or similar.
  • Assists the office with social media campaigns (this may include designing and posting flyers, conducting interviews, taking photos, etc.).
