About The Position

This part-time student office position (maximum of 24 hours per week) is for the School of Writing, Literature, and Film (SWLF) at Oregon State University (OSU). SWLF hosts various academic and cultural events throughout the year and is home to OSU Story Lab, a printing press studio, and graduate programs. This role supports event marketing, design, website maintenance, writing, and public relations for programs and events, along with general office administration.

Requirements

• Must be academically enrolled in a high school, community college, or university and pursuing a program or course of study.
• Must meet Academic Standing Requirements; students on academic suspension are not eligible for employment.
• Must meet the applicable minimal enrollment standard (specific credit hour requirements vary by student type: High School, Undergraduate, Graduate, and International students).
• Willingness to learn new programs and systems.
• Ability to write clearly and concisely.
• Personable and reliable.

Nice To Haves

• Familiarity with Canva, Adobe Creative Suite, and social media platforms.
• Customer service experience.
• Graphic Design Portfolio (optional but encouraged).

Responsibilities

• Designing posters, invitations, and other promotional materials for events.
• Communicating with faculty, students, and staff regarding School events.
• Ordering materials from OSU Printing and Mailing.
• Distributing outreach materials online, on campus, and in the community.
• Managing content on social media platforms.
• Updating the School website and creating new web content.
• Promoting events on the School’s online calendar.
• Assisting with SWLF event preparation and Advising programming.
• Assisting students, faculty, and the general public at the main office.
• Assisting with opening and closing duties in the main office as needed.
