About The Position

The Student Nurse Technician provides multi-skilled, direct patient care under the direction and supervision of a registered professional nurse. The role requires completion of a foundational nursing skills course or equivalent, such as fundamentals, foundations, or adult/pediatric health. The position is in Acute Medicine Pulmonary at Barnes-Jewish Hospital, where multidisciplinary teams provide care for patients with a wide range of clinical conditions.

Requirements

• Enrolled in an accredited RN program.
• Completion of a foundational nursing skills course or equivalent, such as fundamentals, foundations, or adult/pediatric health.
• No experience required.
• No supervisor experience required.

Responsibilities

• Assists the nurse with patient and family education.
• Documents patient care activities using correct medical terminology.
• Acts as a 1:1 patient safety sitter as necessary.
• Ensures supplies and equipment are available to meet each patient's needs.
• Implements direct patient care under the supervision of the nursing team.
• Collects clinical data and information on patients and reports abnormal findings to the nurse.
• Instructs patients in preparation for tests and procedures.
