About The Position

The Student Nurse Intern works in the Float Pool at Ascension St. Agnes Hospital in Baltimore, Maryland, providing direct patient care under RN supervision. The role includes meeting patients’ daily needs with dignity, monitoring vital signs and responses, documenting clinical observations, and collaborating with a preceptor to support care plans and patient outcomes. Other duties include preparing or transporting patients for diagnostics and helping maintain a clean, safe healing environment. The schedule is rotating and PRN.

Requirements

Obtain BLS Provider certification within 30 days of hire or job transfer; American Heart Association or American Red Cross certification is accepted.
Obtain Nurse Aide qualification before hire or job transfer.
Have a high school diploma or GED.
Be accepted or enrolled in a nursing program by the date of hire or transfer and begin classes within 90 days.
Commit to a minimum of 60 hours (5–6 shifts) per semester, based on the intern’s availability.

Nice To Haves

Successful completion of the first semester of an RN curriculum.
Maryland Board of Nursing CNA certification.

Responsibilities

Deliver compassionate, direct patient care under RN supervision and ensure patients’ daily needs and comfort are met with dignity.
Monitor and track vital signs and patient responses, providing the clinical team with timely information for safe interventions.
Document patient care and clinical observations accurately to support high-quality medical records and transitions of care.
Collaborate with a preceptor to refine care plans and contribute frontline observations.
Perform other assigned tasks, including preparing or transporting patients for diagnostics and supporting a clean, safe healing environment.
