About The Position

The Student Life Coordinator provides operational support for Student Life programs, services, and campus engagement initiatives across the La Plata, Prince Frederick, and Leonardtown campuses. The position coordinates the day-to-day operations of Student Life offices and student engagement spaces while supporting the planning, coordination, and execution of departmental programs, events, and services. The Specialist assists students, faculty, staff, and community by answering inquiries and researching and resolving records, registration, and course issues timely and efficiently. The position assists in the successful delivery of student leadership initiatives, campus traditions, co-curricular experiences, and institutional events by coordinating event logistics, maintaining functional program spaces, and ensuring resources and facilities are prepared to support student engagement and success.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree required in a related field
  • Demonstrated ability to work with college student constituencies & diverse populations in an effective manner.
  • Demonstrated ability to advise or lead student groups or organizations.
  • Ability to adapt to a fast-paced working environment
  • Ability to work with professional integrity and discretion
  • Proven record keeping, budgeting and administrative skills.
  • Ability to design and organize student activities and/or cultural and recreational programs.
  • Excellent time management skills
  • Excellent oral and written skills are required.
  • Experience in Microsoft Office Suite

  • Experience in student services area with progressively increased responsibility preferred

Responsibilities

  • Provides operational coverage for Student Life offices and student lounges across all campuses as needed.
  • Serves as departmental coverage during staff meetings, leave, events, and other operational needs.
  • Greetings students and visitors while providing general information regarding Student Life services, events, and campus resources.
  • Maintains welcoming, organized, and functional Student Life spaces.
  • Assists with opening and closing Student Life offices and event spaces.
  • Monitors Student Life facilities and reports maintenance, safety, or operational concerns.
  • Develop and nurture relationships with key industry partners, businesses, and stakeholders.
  • Act as the primary point of contact between the organization and its external partners.
  • Identify potential partners and opportunities for collaboration.
  • Provide first level advising to new and current students, as well as support for community and visitors to CSM.
  • Utilize college resources and refers students to appropriate departments and services
  • Assist with operational logistics for Student Life college wide programs, events, and engagement initiatives across all campuses, ensuring activities are executed efficiently and in accordance with departmental standards.
  • Support the coordination of event setup, breakdown, room configurations, equipment, signage, and event materials to ensure facilities are prepared for successful program delivery.
  • Provides on-site operational support for Student Life programs, Student Government Association (SGA) Board activities, Programs and Activities Committee (PAC) events, Registered Student Organization (RSO) initiatives, and other institutional events.
  • Transports, stages, and maintains event equipment and supplies before, during, and after programs
  • Assists professional staff with event registration, participant check-in, attendance tracking, and event evaluations.
  • Provides logistical support for departmental communications, promotional material distribution, and campus marketing efforts.
  • Assists with room reservations, furniture arrangements, and daily operational needs to support Student Life programming.
  • Assists with maintaining departmental equipment, supplies, and event materials in a clean, organized, and event-ready condition.
  • Supports the supervision of student employees by assisting with daily work assignments and operational guidance.
  • Assist students with troubleshooting and navigating My learning, Online Services, My.CSMD
  • Support special programs designed to support student success
  • Performs other related duties as assigned to support Student Life operations.
  • Performs other related duties as assigned.
