About The Position

The Fraternity & Sorority Life (FSL) Student Leadership Consultant (SLC) Social Media & Marketing Specialist is responsible for promoting the Office of Fraternity and Sorority Life, its governing councils, and the 26 associated chapters. This role involves developing engaging and authentic content to inform prospective students, potential new members, and current members about programs, events, services, resources, and support.

Requirements

  • Full-time Butler University undergraduate or graduate student (preferably 1st - 3rd year, but not required) with a minimum 2.5 GPA and not on conduct probation.
  • Familiarity with social media platforms, especially Instagram and TikTok.
  • Basic photo/video editing skills (Canva, Adobe Creative Suite, or similar tools).
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Creative, detail-oriented, and able to work independently or as part of a team.
  • Ability to manage deadlines and adapt to fast-moving content needs.
  • Knowledge about the fraternity and sorority community at Butler.

Nice To Haves

  • Majoring or minoring in Marketing, Communications, Public Relations, Digital Media, or related field.
  • Member of a social fraternity or sorority.
  • Prior social media management experience.
  • Experience working with diverse populations.
  • Demonstrated leadership and/or supervisory experience.

Responsibilities

  • Capture photo and video content of Office of Fraternity and Sorority Life, executive council, and chapter programs, events, resources, and support.
  • Assist with planning, creating, and scheduling content for Instagram Post, Reels, Stories and TikToks.
  • Edit photos and videos for social media and digital.
  • Track and analyze the effectiveness of social media campaigns and promotional efforts.
  • Assist Assistant Director of Fraternity and Sorority Life with the creation of monthly newsletter (called the Ruff Draft) content and submission.
  • Assist Council Officers with designing and developing creative promotional materials including but not flyers, booklets, mailers, etc.
  • Support on-campus marketing efforts such as event coverage, tabling, and outreach initiatives as needed.
  • Provide a brief report to the Assistant Director of Fraternity and Sorority Life every week with updates, positives, and challenges in a 30 minute in-person meeting.
