About The Position

The Chicago Department of Aviation (CDA) seeks student interns for positions across various bureaus and divisions at O’Hare and Midway International Airports. Interns support program activities through administrative, research, data, clerical, and event-related work. Start dates are in Spring 2027. This is a temporary internship, limited to one academic year; students may hold only one internship position lasting no more than one academic year per City Department.

Interns must remain enrolled in school throughout the internship, except during academic breaks, and maintain a cumulative GPA of at least 2.5 on a 4.0 scale or 3.5 on a 5.0 scale. Selected candidates must pass an airport background check and a Security Threat Assessment. Additional duties may be required.

Requirements

• Be currently enrolled in an accredited college, university, or law school, or an accredited business or data processing/information technology school.
• Remain enrolled in school throughout the internship, except for academic breaks.
• Maintain a cumulative GPA of at least 2.5 on a 4.0 grading scale or 3.5 on a 5.0 grading scale.
• Submit a resume, current transcripts showing cumulative GPA, and current enrollment verification from the school’s Registrar/Dean or a National Student Clearinghouse Proof of Enrollment Certificate at the time of processing.
• Pass an airport background check and Security Threat Assessment.

Responsibilities

• Perform administrative functions to support program activities.
• Compile, tabulate, and analyze statistical data; research and collect information for studies and reports.
• Use software packages to type documents, create graphs, charts, and spreadsheets, and maintain databases.
• Provide the public with general information about programs and services.
• Maintain records and prepare work reports.
• Perform office clerical functions.
• Participate in organizing, setting up, and administering special events and program activities.
• Occasionally lift up to 25 lbs.
