About The Position

RESPEC seeks a Student Intern in Civil or Structural Engineering for its Summer Internship 2027 program in the Juneau, Alaska office. This paid, temporary part-time internship lasts approximately 12 weeks and runs from May through August 2027. Interns work alongside full-time employees to learn how professional engineering services are provided to clients, with mentoring and coaching from experienced staff to help develop civil engineering skills and knowledge. This hands-on role may involve structural, transportation, and land development disciplines. Interns may be exposed to clients, job sites, the laboratory, and communities, and will collaborate with RESPEC multidisciplinary teams serving public- and private-sector clients. Compensation is hourly and depends on experience. No benefits are offered except those required by statute.

Requirements

Be pursuing a bachelor's or master's degree in civil engineering from an accredited institution.
Possess a valid driver's license and maintain a clean driving record; the role requires operating a company or personal vehicle during work hours for business-related travel.
Be a team player who strives to provide quality work.

Nice To Haves

Solid time-management skills and the ability to produce accurate, high-quality work efficiently.
Coursework in steel, wood, concrete, and precast/prestressed concrete design.
Good working knowledge of civil or structural engineering fundamentals.
Self-motivated and detail-oriented.
Strong problem-solving and math skills.
Strong attention to detail and excellent analytical, judgment, and problem-solving capabilities.
Some proficiency with AutoCAD and Revit.
Willingness to travel around Southeast Alaska.
