About The Position

This position reports to the food services supervisor or designee. The Student Intern, Food Service assists cooks and cook helpers in the preparation of student meals in compliance with government and management directives. This role is crucial for maintaining health standards and ensuring proper meal service within the facility.

Requirements

  • Must be a completer and ready for work-based learning.
  • Must be at least 18 years of age.
  • Must be a current Job Corps Center Student.
  • Must have a student card.

  • Currently enrolled in the Culinary Arts program.

Responsibilities

  • Perform clean-up and sanitation duties in the food preparation, storage, and dish room areas to ensure adequate health standards at all times.
  • Provide an adequate supply of food and transfer merchandise ingredients to the cooking area as instructed by the cook or designee.
  • Assist in washing, peeling, chopping, and preparing ingredients.
  • Portion out food, set up serving lines, and serve meals to fellow students according to proper nutritional guidelines.
  • Wash dishes, sanitize eating areas, clean kitchen counters, sweep or mop floors, and clean the dining room.
  • Help store deliveries properly, maintain refrigerators and freezers, and rotate stock to ensure freshness and safety.
