About The Position

This position reports to the food services supervisor or designee. The intern will assist cooks and cook helpers in the preparation of student meals in compliance with government and management directives. This role involves performing clean-up and sanitation duties, ensuring adequate supplies of food and ingredients, and maintaining serving areas. Special assignments may include working evenings and weekends to serve brunch and dinner.

Requirements

  • Must be a current Job Corps student.
  • Must be ready for work-based learning.
  • Must be at least 18 years of age.
  • Must have a student card.

Nice To Haves

  • Currently enrolled in the Culinary Arts program at Job Corps Center.

Responsibilities

  • Perform clean-up and sanitation duties in food preparation, storage, and dish room areas.
  • Provide adequate supply of food and transfer merchandise ingredients to cooking area.
  • Operate the student snack bar and clean outside areas.
  • Clear dirty dishes, wash dishes, bus tables, and stock serving areas with silverware and trays.
  • Serve brunch and dinner during special assignments, which may include evenings and weekends.
