About The Position

The Student Information Systems (SIS) Application Consultant is a non-union, at-will, Service Personnel position. The primary responsibilities include providing consultation, technical support, and training to St. Clair County RESA customers for client/server-based Student Information System (SIS) management software, including PowerSchool and Skyward, as well as library management software, Destiny by Follett.

Requirements

  • Good working knowledge of computer environments, including Windows, Microsoft Office, Google applications, web browsers, and email systems, is required.
  • Candidates should be capable of supporting customers of varying skill levels, from beginner to advanced.
  • Good written and verbal communication skills are essential, along with the ability to learn quickly.
  • A valid Michigan driver's license and reliable transportation are required.
  • Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively and effectively with co-workers, staff, school districts, community agencies, and the public is crucial.
  • Regular and predictable attendance is an essential function of this position.
  • Bachelor's degree preferred.
  • At least 2 years' experience in customer support is desired.
  • Citizenship, residency, or work visa required.

Nice To Haves

  • Knowledge of school business highly valued.
  • Work experience in PowerSchool, Skyward, and Destiny is desired.

Responsibilities

  • Provide daily technical support to customers through telephone, email, and direct contact.
  • Conduct customer training in various formats, including web-based sessions, in-person group settings, and one-on-one instruction.
  • Prepare training materials, written procedural guides, and technical documentation.
  • Demonstrate strong problem-solving skills and the ability to multitask effectively.
  • Conduct quality assurance testing and documentation for new applications, features, and functionalities.
  • Be self-motivated and willing to take on critical application-related tasks.
  • Assist local districts in developing specialized reports and implementing reporting changes.
  • Make independent decisions and solve problems to contribute to the department's success, and provide backup assistance to peers as directed by the supervisor.
