About The Position

Assisting Recreational Sports Intramural Staff with providing a safe, healthy, and positive environment for Intramural participants. This role involves game management, officiating, and ensuring adherence to rules and procedures. The position requires on-campus interaction and maintaining a regular schedule, with some evening and weekend work possible. Student employment offers an opportunity to build work experience and skills in an environment that supports professional development.

Requirements

• Enrolled at least half-time, 6 credit hours per semester for undergraduate and 3 credit hours per semester for graduates.
• Maintain a TAMIU overall GPA of 2.0 for undergraduate students and 3.0 for graduate students.
• Must meet all other requirements as stated in TAMIU’s Satisfactory Academic Progress Policy (SAPP).
• Must possess strong customer service skills.
• Strict punctuality is required.
• Promptly complete all required trainings.
• Submit time sheet biweekly.

Nice To Haves

• Experience with game management at sporting events as well as officiating experience.
• Knowledge and implementation of game rules, guidelines, and procedures to ensure a safe, positive, and enjoyable environment for Intramural Program participants.
• Knowledge and implementation of university policies as well as Rec Sports Intramural guidelines and procedures to ensure a safe, positive, and enjoyable environment for Intramural participants.
• Ability to communicate effectively.
• Ability to interact effectively and professionally with participants and spectators.

Responsibilities

• Assist with implementation of proper protocol and procedures at the beginning (proper set up of all equipment) and program conclusion (securing equipment and program facility).
• Game management including stats, scoreboard, and officiating of Intramural events, games, or competitions to maintain standards of play and to ensure game rules are observed.
• Assist with implementation of emergency protocol during Intramural events.
• Perform other related duties as assigned.
