About The Position

TAMIU Rec Sports - Esports employees will connect with the program through online engagement, assistance with marketing/communication, or assisting with events. May be required to speak in the public/online and support Esports events. Under the supervision and guidance of the student manager and Professional Staff, provide excellent customer service to ensure a positive experience for members and assist with the daily operations of the Recreation Center and Esports arena including implementation of proper protocol for the opening and closing procedures of facility to ensure a safe and effective opening of facility and securing the facility at time of closing. Maintain a safe and positive environment for Recreational Center members by implementing University and Rec Sports guidelines to include, emergency protocol, CPR/AED, evacuation of facility, safe and effective handling of blood borne pathogens, as well as, ensuring shelter and/or safe departure of members during severe weather. Responsible for maintaining current certification(s)/licensure(s) required as a condition of employment and providing valid and legitimate proof of certification(s)/licensure(s) to the supervisor prior to the expiration date(s) of certification(s)/licensure(s). Perform other related duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • Enrolled at least half-time, 6 credit hours per semester for undergraduate and 3 credit hours per semester for graduates.
  • Maintain a TAMIU overall GPA of 2.0 for undergraduate students and 3.0 for graduate students.
  • Must meet all other requirements as stated in TAMIU’s Satisfactory Academic Progress Policy (SAPP).
  • Must possess excellent communication skills.
  • Must possess excellent conflict resolution skills.
  • Knowledge and implementation of University policies as well as departmental guidelines and procedures.
  • Ability to maintain a positive work including punctuality, professional dress, behavior and attitude.
  • Ability to adapt to a fast-paced environment.
  • Experience/Knowledge in the Esports world.
  • Must obtain a CPR/AED certification within 60 days of employment.
  • Position requires on campus, face-to-face interactions.
  • Position requires maintaining a regular schedule of attendance on campus and in the workplace.
  • Work schedules are created by the department based on departmental needs but ensure it does not conflict with class schedule.
  • Promptly complete all required training.
  • Submit time sheet biweekly.
  • Some evening and weekend work may be required.
  • Position may require moving and lifting objects/materials, as necessary.
  • Subject to funding and/or need.
  • All positions are security-sensitive. Applicants are subject to a criminal history investigation, and employment is contingent upon the institution’s verification of credentials and/or other information required by the institution’s procedures, including the completion of the criminal history check.
  • Undergraduate student must be enrolled in at least 6 credit hours per semester of college-level courses or accepted remedial courses.
  • International undergraduate students must be enrolled in at least 12 semester credit hours to meet the federal immigration guidelines.
  • Must maintain a 2.0 TAMIU overall GPA.
  • Graduate students must be enrolled in at least 3 credit hours per semester.
  • International graduate students must enroll in 9 semester credit hours in order to meet the federal immigration guidelines.
  • Must maintain a 3.0 TAMIU overall GPA.
  • Students who will be graduating may enroll for less than half time for their final semester. Must submit proof of graduation.
