About The Position

The Student Group Grant Committee (SGGC) disburses the Student Group Granting Program funds and reviews the procedural documents belonging to the Program, under the direction of the University of Alberta Students' Union (UASU). The SGGC is an adjudication committee composed of students with student group executive experience, and aids the UASU, on behalf of the Students' Council Finance Committee, to provide funding to SU-recognized student groups for their operations and events. The SGGC also serves as an advisory committee for the UASU when making changes to the Granting Program. The SGGC is currently taking applications for undergraduate students-at-large to serve on the committee for the 2026-27 academic year.

Requirements

  • Be an Undergraduate student at the University of Alberta.
  • Be a member of the University of Alberta Students’ Union by being up-to-date on SU fees.
  • Be a current or past executive member of at least one student group.

  • Student group executive experience.

Responsibilities

  • Disburse Student Group Granting Program funds.
  • Review procedural documents of the Granting Program.
  • Provide funding to SU-recognized student groups for their operations and events.
  • Serve as an advisory committee for the UASU when making changes to the Granting Program.
  • Participate in Adjudication Meetings, potential Appeals Meetings, and Special Meetings.
