About The Position

The Graduate Assistant for Recognized Student Organizations reports to the Assistant Director of Student Organizations in the Lavin-Bernick Center for University Life. This position will assist with Recognized Student Organization (RSO) event registration, operations, policy development, and departmental programs and initiatives.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree is required.
  • Must be enrolled in a graduate program at Tulane University.
  • Approximately 20 hours per week including evening and weekend commitments.
  • Organizational skills, punctuality, and self-motivation.
  • Ability to act as a positive role model.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.

Nice To Haves

  • Past involvement/leadership experience in student organizations.
  • Experience planning student organization events.
  • Ability to work autonomously.

Responsibilities

  • Manage the RSO event registration approvals process through WaveSync for all RSO events.
  • Hold office hours in the Student Organization Center, and be a knowledgeable resource and support staff member for the space.
  • Meet with RSO leaders to review event registration policies and protocols as needed.
  • Assist the Assistant Director of Student Organizations with the planning and implementation of the Fall and Spring Activities Expos.
  • Assist with management and updating of RSO records.
  • Assist with the annual update of the RSO Handbook.
  • Assist with departmental programs and initiatives.
  • Participate in weekly one-on-one meetings with the Assistant Director of Student Organizations.
  • Participate in bi-weekly staff meetings on Thursdays from 10am-12pm.
  • Participate in quarterly Student Affairs divisional meetings.
  • Participate in ongoing staff in-services and trainings.
  • Work collaboratively with professional staff and colleagues in various departments within the Division of Student Affairs.
  • Submit feedback and recommendation for future development of student programs, specifically related to student organizations and programming.
  • Other duties as assigned by the Assistant Director of Student Organizations.

  • 10 month appointment
  • 10 monthly stipends at $1,250 each to be paid August – May (total $12,500)
