About The Position

The Student Financial Services Coordinator will be responsible for understanding the processes within the Office of Student Financial Services, as well as how the office corresponds on campus interdepartmentally. The main task of Student Financial Services Coordinator will be to provide clear communication to students regarding their student account, perform administrative functions associated with daily office operations, and to assist the Student Accounts Manager and Financial Aid Manager in day-to-day responsibilities. The coordinator will also schedule, coordinate, and process student finance functions including payment plans, refunds, communications, and payment options to minimize aging accounts and ensure accuracy, timeliness, and compliance regulations. The Student Financial Services Coordinator must not only exhibit good customer service skills but also the ability to handle and resolve discrepancies.

Requirements

  • Understands foundational concepts of finance and accounting.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Shows exemplary social skills and considerate interactions with all faculty, staff, and students.
  • Has proficient understanding of data and technology.
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Office Software (Excel, Word, Outlook, etc.).
  • Ability to build spreadsheets and interpret data.
  • Must enjoy interacting with a diverse group of people from all backgrounds and age groups.
  • Minimum of an associate degree in Finance, Accounting, or related area.
  • One year of related experience preferred.
  • Must be in good academic standing (if a student).
  • Successful completion of background check, MVR, and credit check may be required.

Responsibilities

  • Provide excellent customer service to all students, faculty, staff, external organizations, and the general public regarding Student Financial Services.
  • Understand and uphold Student Financial Services policies, and clearly communicate policies to students and other departments, as applicable.
  • Function as the primary source of contact for all incoming communications.
  • Manage the Student Financial Services email account, including outgoing email communications.
  • Collaborate, coordinate, and communicate with departments on-campus in constant sharing of information and quality of service for our students and customers.
  • Audit, maintain and manage student accounts including blocks, credits, compliance, registration, and graduation clearance.
  • Communicate with students regarding payment reminders, fee notices, and outstanding balances
  • Complete special projects and reporting as assigned.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned and specific to area of responsibility and assist the department when necessary.
