About The Position

The University of Florida is seeking a Student Financial Aid Manager of State Programs to oversee the administration of institutional scholarships and State of Florida financial aid programs within the Office for Student Financial Aid and Scholarships. This position provides leadership for scholarship operations, supervises staff, manages funding and compliance activities, and helps ensure students receive the financial resources needed to achieve their academic goals.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in an appropriate area and two years of relevant experience; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Student financial aid experience
  • Excellent interpersonal, organizational, communication skills, attention to detail, and leadership skills
  • Knowledge of rules and regulations governing financial aid programs
  • Ability to exercise responsible professional judgment in evaluating unique circumstances
  • Ability to speak comfortably before large groups

Responsibilities

  • Administer Florida Bright Futures and other State of Florida aid programs.
  • Determine eligibility, awarding criteria, and program procedures for state aid programs.
  • Manage fund reconciliation and compliance activities for state aid programs.
  • Test and maintain automated awarding processes for state aid programs.
  • Oversee awarding and renewal of institutional scholarships, waivers, and fellowships.
  • Manage all SFA-awarded scholarship programs.
  • Assist with National Merit award administration and renewal.
  • Coordinate programs such as Brecht, United World College, National Merit, and AmeriCorps.
  • Oversee eligibility review, awarding, fund management, and reporting for institutional scholarships and fellowships.
  • Administer the Machen Florida Opportunity Scholarship program.
  • Determine initial and renewal eligibility for the Machen Florida Opportunity Scholarship program.
  • Manage awarding of named scholarships and related program activities.
  • Supervise and develop a team of financial aid coordinators.
  • Oversee scholarship processing, student petitions, and record review.
  • Provide guidance to staff and support operational effectiveness.
  • Monitor workflow and ensure quality customer service.
  • Support special projects and departmental initiatives.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
